The comedian will host the 97th ceremony, replacing Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted the Oscars for the past four years.

American comedian and TV host Conan O’Brien will host the Oscars for the first time in his career. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The organizers of the awards called 61-year-old O’Brien an ideal choice, noting his brilliant sense of humor, experience in live broadcasts and a sincere love of cinema. “His remarkable ability to connect with the audience will unite viewers to do what the Oscars do best – honor the best films and directors of this year,” the statement said.

Conan himself reacted to the news in his characteristically ironic manner. On social media, he wrote: “America demanded it. And finally it happened: the new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme from Taco Bell. Among other news, I will be hosting the Oscars.”

Interestingly, long-time host Jimmy Kimmel has declined to participate in 2025 after four consecutive ceremonies.

The 97th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on March 2, 2025.

Earlier it was reported that the director of the film 20 Days in Mariupol, Mstislav Chernov, was invited to become a member of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
